2020 Kitchen Cabinet Trends

2020 Kitchen Cabinet Trends

Whether you’re building a new house, renovating your kitchen, or just looking to add something new, there are plenty of great kitchen trends from this year that you should look at.

It’s easy to make your kitchen look updated by simply adding a few small details, such as repainting and adding a new backsplash. But, if you have the opportunity to completely make a new kitchen, there are some new trends that you will probably be interested in.

Colorful Backsplash

This is one of the easiest ways to update a kitchen. Adding a colorful tile backsplash above your countertops will brighten up the whole space, and add a pop of color. You can use this color to tie in other elements of the room, or to completely redefine the space with something new.

Blue and green tones are especially popular in backsplashes. They add a clean, calming look that’s great for a kitchen. Having these in pastels or bright shades will add a lot to the look of your kitchen. Plus, these colors are easy to match to other objects and tie your kitchen together.

Painted Cabinets

Painting your cabinets is another easy way to update your kitchen. You can paint the cabinets yourself, and you only need to spend some money buying new paint and painting tools. It’s perfect if you are on a tight budget, but want a completely new look.

Bright neutral tones are popular when painting cabinets. White and light grey painted cabinets will make the kitchen look very clean and open, which will help you to redefine the space. If you paint your cabinets white or a light grey, you can add other accent colors that can make your kitchen pop even more.

Increasingly, muted but colorful tones are also being used to paint cabinets. A dark blue or green is a great option if you are looking to add color.

Minimalism

The minimalism style trend fits perfectly for a kitchen. If you are completely renovating a kitchen, or if you are building a new home, you should consider the minimalist style. Having clean, simple lines, and not too much clutter can make a kitchen space feel bigger and more stylish.

You can still have a minimalist touch to a kitchen on a low budget. Clear out cluttered cabinet displays, or paint over bright colors with neutral ones. Make any accent colors in the room muted or understated.

Open Shelving

Typically, the upper cabinets in a kitchen would be closed off, and have a very similar appearance to the outside of the lower cabinets underneath them. While this is a classic look for a kitchen, it can give a clunky appearance and is being overshadowed as the minimalism trend grows.

Having open shelving above cabinets is a great way to embrace minimalism in your kitchen. Open shelving is both practical and decorative. It allows for easy access and a greater range of storage while making your kitchen look beautiful.
